Dave Sawyer

Class of 1955

Dave Sawyer was an outstanding 3-sport athlete all 4 years of high school in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He was a member of the1955 basketball team who won both the Livingston County and Section Five championship that year. He was also a member of the Section Five Championship Baseball team in 1955. He was the first real “big man” to play for Mount Morris. This man received a full athletic and academic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. At Pittsburgh, he played basketball all 4 years. During these 4 years, he played in the NCAA Basketball tournament twice in 1957 and 1958. After graduating from Pittsburgh in 1959, he went on to play basketball for United States Army team in 1960 and 1962. He later moved to California where he has lived and worked for the past 48 years. He has been married to his wife Mary Ann for 44 years and has three children and one grandson.
