Mount Morris - Devon Milford

Devon Milford is a graduate from the Class of 2013.  He played 5 varsity sports during his high school career – cross country, soccer, basketball, golf, and track & field.  He ran cross country for only 1 season and was named the team MVP.  In basketball, he was moved up to varsity and played in sectionals as only an 8th grader.  He then went on to become a starter at guard for 4 straight years.  In his sophomore year during the 2010-11 season, his talents truly began to shine.  He averaged 17 points per game in that season including scoring 52 points in one game which broke a school record that had been in place since 1971.  He made nine 3-pointers in that game which also set a school record.  In that season, he also helped lead our team to a 17-4 record, the #1 seed in Class D2, a trip to the sectional finals, and was named to the Section V All-Tournament team.  He kept things rolling in his junior year averaging 18.5 points per game which included scoring 36 points in a sectional game which is a school record for most points in a sectional game.  He made nine 3-pointers in that game which tied his own school record and was one short of tying the Section V record for most 3-pointers in a sectional game.  He capped off his basketball career scoring 21 points per game in his senior year and finished with 1,349 career points which broke a 42 year old school record set by Hall of Famer Chuck Albanese.  He also broke our school record for most career 3-pointers with 111.  His accolades in track & field are also extremely impressive.  As a junior, he was the Section V Class D champion in 2 events, the long jump and the triple jump.  He broke our school record in the triple jump with a jump of 45’ 6.5” which had been in place since 1988.  He accomplished this at the state championship meet where he finished 6th in the state in Class D.  He also finished 10th in the state championships in the long jump and broke our school record that year with a jump of 21’ 5.5”.  That record had been in place since 1981.  To reach the state championships, he had finished 2nd in the triple jump and 1st in the long jump at the Meet of Champions in the D2 class which consisted of everyone in Classes B-D in Section V.  In his senior year, he won a 2nd consecutive Section V Class D title in the long jump.  He also broke his own school record, was the Livingston County champion, and finished 4th in the state championship meet in Class D in the long jump.
