Mount Morris - Joe Christiano

From fixing baseball gloves for kids, to the countless hours he has spent at Bellamy Park working on the fields, courts, and playground, no one around has volunteered their time as much as Joe Christiano. He was one of the founding fathers of the first Mt. Morris Sports Booster Club in 1981. In that role, he was very active in fundraising, and doing whatever he could to help Mt. Morris Athletics. His work did not stop when the school year ended either. He was very active in summer athletic programs – also on a volunteer basis. Any coach or athlete who has practiced or played a game at Bellamy Park knows what this man has done. He has helped prepare the baseball, softball, and soccer fields, worked on the tennis and basketball courts, and spent numerous hours cleaning up to help ensure the park is in great working order. He spends so much time at Bellamy Park, one young boy once thought his name was Francis Bellamy. A graduate of Mt. Morris Central, he was also an excellent athlete and played shortstop on an LCAA Championship baseball team. He was elected to our Hall of Fame as a Special Contributor due to all of his efforts.
