Mount Morris - Lawrence Falsone

Lawrence Falsone was a star athlete in 4 sports in football, basketball, baseball, track & field from the Class of 1935 and was a pioneer of our athletic history.  In football, he was the leading scorer of the very first football team in our school history in 1932.  He continued to be the star and leading scorer over a 3-year varsity career including games in which he would score all our team’s points.  After his senior season, he was named to the Livingston County All-Star team as a halfback in 1934.  Similarly, in basketball, he was our school’s top player and 3-year starter on our team from 1932-35.  In baseball, he was a 4-year varsity starter and leading hitter who played multiple positions to help lead our team to win the Livingston County Class A championship in 1932 and 1935.  In the 1934 baseball season, he was our team’s leading pitcher and hitter who finished with an amazing .519 batting average.  Falsone’s talents also shined in the sport of track & field where in 1935, he was crowned the Livingston County Champion in the broad jump.  His athletic ability was certainly noticed by others around the country as he received a scholarship to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to play football and attended there after graduation from Mt. Morris.  He returned to Mt. Morris after college and was a long time community member and business owner who was well liked and well respected by everyone.
