Mount Morris Central School District has been recognized as one of the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education by The NAMM Foundation. This prestigious designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in providing music access and education to all students. MMCSD is one of only 935 districts nationwide to earn this honor.

“We are honored to receive this award again from the NAMM,” said Carl Irwin, Instrumental Music Teacher at MMCSD. “Recognition like this is due to the strong support that comes from teachers and community members who aren't directly involved in the music department. The Mount Morris community is consistent in its support of the fine and performing arts culture in and around our school.”

“It is a privilege to share a passion for music with all of the students at Mount Morris,” said Maria Foti, Vocal and General Music Teacher. “It would not be possible without community members who whole-heartedly support the arts and continue to show up for our students. I am truly lucky to be a part of this school family!”

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, districts must meet rigorous criteria in areas such as funding, music participation, instruction time, facilities, graduation requirements, and community music-making support.

The NAMM Foundation, a nonprofit supported by the National Association of Music Merchants and its 10,400 members worldwide, promotes participation in music-making through research, philanthropy, and public service.
