Senior Matthew Bacon claimed first place in the boys pentathlon at the LCAA Championship on Thursday and Friday after a whirlwind of five events. After three events (110 hurdles, high jump, and shot put), Matt was ranked sixth overall.
Matt then surged ahead on Friday, winning the long jump with a mark of 18’10.25” and the 1500m with an impressive time of 4:39.35. With a final score of 2448 points, he secured the win by 11 points.
“Matt showed great resilience and determination down to the very last event,” said Coach James. “All of the boys in pent were great competitors and pushed each other while cheering one another on.”
Matt will compete for a sectional title in the pentathlon on Saturday, May 31st. 💪

· Abby Provo, 5th in discus (87-9)
· Mason Junkermann, 6th in high jump (5-3)
