There have been many successes, personal bests and new school records set! On Saturday, 1/29, five of our athletes placed in the top 5 at the Rochester Winter Track League Championships: Lance Warren took 1st place in pole vault, 3rd in 55m hurdles and 5th in high jump; Danny McCart placed 3rd in the 300m and 6th in the 55m; Jack Lonsberry placed 5th in the mile; Leah Gehrig placed 3rd in race walk and 6th in the 1500; Anna Johnson placed 4th in high jump and 5th in long jump setting our school record with a jump of 15 feet 5.5 inches. Anna also set the triple jump record earlier this season with a jump of 28 feet 7.75 inches on 12/11 and then exceeded her own record on 2/12 with a jump of 29 feet 9.25 inches. Jack Lonsberry set the mile record with a time of 5:29.8 on 12/11. Melania VanAernam set the weight throw record, which had never been done in the history of the school, with a throw of 17 feet 7.5 inches on 12/17. Lance Warren, currently ranked 2nd in our class for sectionals tied a 33-year-old school record in pole vault with a jump of 10 feet on 2/5. We are heading to Sectionals this coming Sunday, 2/20 at Houghton College! The meet will take place from 11am-3pm. All spectators are welcome and the cost is $5 at the door.
