To wrap up Read Across America Week, our elementary students took a special trip to the library to spend time with their high school Reading Buddies.
High school students shared their love of reading by reading stories with their younger Blue Devil friends, creating a fun and welcoming space filled with great books, laughter, and smiles. Moments like these remind us that reading can bring people of all ages together.
A big thank you to our high school students for being such wonderful role models and helping make this a memorable ending to a fantastic week of reading at MMCSD! 💙📖
A big thank you to our junior high students for hosting a roller skating party. It was a fun night filled with laughter, music, and plenty of skating!

Our annual Chess Tournament wrapped up this week, with students from grades 4-6 competing for the top spots!
A huge congratulations to Charlie Bump, who won for the second year in a row and became the second student in school history to do so. Teddy Burnham finished in second place, followed by Cooper Woodworth in third.
The tournament capped off a season of fun and learning that began with the Chess Club in October. The tournament featured 17 students from grades 4-6 in a double-elimination format, with games held after school.
We are so proud of all the students who participated and showed great skill, strategy, and sportsmanship this year!

📚🎉 Read Across America Week Fun at MMCSD!
Our elementary students are celebrating Read Across America Week with stories, surprises, and lots of reading excitement.
Today brought some extra special surprises for our young readers. Second graders were thrilled when Principal Dean stopped by as their special guest reader, while our PreK students enjoyed a visit from Board of Education Trustee and Retired Mount Morris Teacher, Donna Todd, who shared a story with the class.
All week long, classrooms are also enjoying our Mystery Reader challenge. Students listen to a prerecorded book and try to guess which MMCSD staff member is behind the voice. The guesses have been creating a special buzz around the building!
It has been a fun week celebrating the joy of reading. Keep turning those pages, Blue Devils! 💙📖

Elementary readers from each grade level PreK - 6 went above and beyond during February break, logging minutes read and showing incredible dedication to their books.
This week, students who recorded the highest number of reading minutes were rewarded with a special kickball game alongside their teachers and Principal Dean!
Keep turning those pages, Blue Devils. Who will be our top readers next time? 💙

Students in 1st grade practiced graphing by sorting candy hearts by color and creating their own bar graphs. 🍬 Students counted, organized, and compared their data while having fun with this hands-on math activity.
Learning is even sweeter when math is this much fun! 💕
