Over the weekend, Varsity placed first in their division with a score of 55.75 and Modified placed second in their division with a score of 32.5. “When the Varsity girls said they meant business, they meant business! After winning at Canandaigua, they seem hungrier than before. They love what they do and their effort is showing. Congratulations ladies, let’s keep up the good work! Modified put in extra work this week and learned some new stunts. They looked really great and I’m happy with how things are turning out for the team. They’re on to great things for sure,” said Coach Mancuso. This Sunday, 2/4, both teams will take the mat at Attica. Modified at 10:00am and Varsity at 2:00pm.
Congratulations to all of our students that were selected to perform at the All-County Festival over the weekend! At this ensemble festival, students from multiple schools throughout the area perform together. “The concerts were excellent, and the students represented Mount Morris very well,” said Mr. Irwin, Instrumental Music Teacher.
Congratulations to our varsity boys basketball team on their win over Caledonia-Mumford, 67-52! This is their 5th win in a row. Chase Young had a team high of 15 points and added 8 assists with 10 steals and 5 rebounds. Bryson Constantino had 14 points with 4 three-pointers. Mason Santini had 13 points with 5 rebounds. Owen Yencer had 12 points. Aidan Stanley had 8 points with 3 steals. Anthony Hightower had 3 points with 10 rebounds and 2 assists. The team will play against Houghton Academy in a home game this evening beginning at 5:30pm.

Our varsity team placed first in division two with a score of 63.7! Nikoal Tidd participated in the jump off and received first place. “I’m so proud of how well these group of athletes are performing. It truly feels like they’re putting up a fight this season and standing their ground. Congratulations, ladies, on your three-peat,” said Varsity Coach Mancuso. Our modified team placed second in their division with a score of 36.6! Emma King participated in the jump off and received third place. “Every week they’re improving scores and putting in the hard work. Congratulations, mod squad,” said Varsity Coach Mancuso. Both teams will be performing at Canandaigua CSD on Saturday, January 27th. Modified at 9:40 am. Varsity at 12:50 pm.

Senior, Izariah Rowley, was chosen to receive the Schyler Hyer Memorial Spirit Award, and Nikoal Tidd earned first place in the Jump Off category. Our modified team placed second with a score of 35.35! Teaghan Gilg was chosen to receive the Schyler Hyer Memorial Spirit Award. “Both teams were phenomenal in this competition. We are fortunate to have very hardworking individuals so dedicated to this sport. Great job to both teams,” said varsity Coach Mancuso. Our next competition will be on Saturday, January 20th in Fillmore. The time has not yet been announced.
We would like to thank Mrs. Meyers for her demonstration on how to cook gyros with tzatziki in Mrs. Wheelers Family and Consumer Sciences class! The students really enjoyed learning about Greek culture, and everyone agreed that the gyros were absolutely delicious!

Sixth Grade Champion, Karsin Bonfield, and Junior High Champion, Sydney O’Grady, will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee. The champion of the Regional Spelling Bee will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
Each month, beginning in January, the Mount Morris PTSA hosts a Family Fun Night event where there is typically an open gym, swimming, food, and so much more! This year, they are looking for some feedback about what our Mount Morris Families would like to see at these events through a short online survey. Join us on Saturday, February 10th, for our 14th annual Coaches vs Cancer Fundraising Event! 100% of the proceeds from the event sales will go to local families battling cancer and the regional American Cancer Society. This event is a full-day of basketball, Mount Morris versus Perry. Both communities put forth a great deal of heartfelt energy and time into organizing this charitable fundraising event. The on-court action opens with Girls JV at 1:30, followed by Boys JV at 3:00, Girls Varsity at 4:30, and closes with the Boys Varsity game at 6:00. There will be tables set up with gift baskets and other items to be raffled off during our Varsity games. We will also have a limited number of special event shirts for sale. We will be asking for a $2.00 donation upon entry to the event. Congratulations to our boys varsity basketball team on their 62-61 win over Cal-Mum! This was a very special night for Senior, Bryson Constantino, who made his 112th career three-pointer in the second quarter setting a new school record! He finished with 15 points and made 3 free throws, securing the teams victory over Cal-Mum. Owen Yencer scored 13 points with 3 assists while Chase Young added 10 points with 6 assists. Anthony Hightower added 8 points and 9 rebounds while freshman JV call up Shawntez Brown had 8 points with 3 rebounds and 3 assists. In his first career start, Luis Crespo-Toledo added 8 points, 3 rebounds and made 2 three-pointers. Last week, some of our U.S. History students were able to visit the Rochester Museum and Science Center. They had the chance to investigate the history and workings of the Erie Canal, including the social and economic impact on our local area. Artifacts from the interactions between European settlers and the Seneca and Iroquois tribes were on display for the students to examine. They also took a guided tour of an exhibit that discussed Rochester’s important role in the Underground Railroad.
Winter Whiteout Spirit Week begins on Monday, December 18th for all grades (PreK-12)! The themes for elementary (PreK-6) are slightly different than the high school (7-12), so be sure to check the flyer that has your child’s grade level.
Over the weekend, our Key Club assisted with the annual Breakfast with Santa event which is hosted by the Mount Morris Kiwanis Club. It was a very successful event and volunteers served almost 300 people! Our local Kiwanis Club partners with Key Club to help student members serve, build character, and develop leadership.
