MMCSD Track and Field Shines at Wayne Invitational 🏃♀️🏃♂️💥
The Mount Morris track and field teams had an outstanding showing on Friday night at the Wayne Central School Invitational, finishing with 21 new personal bests as they continue building momentum toward sectionals. 📈
Matthew Bacon (Senior) placed 4th in the pentathlon with a total score of 2,447, setting a new personal best in the 110 hurdles (19.01). He is currently ranked 1st in Class C4. 🥇
Yasi Malave (Junior) placed 4th in the 800 meter with a personal best of 2:03.85. He is currently 2nd in Class C4 and is closing in on a school record that was set 50 years ago. ⏱️🔥
Morgan Luick (Senior) took 5th in the pentathlon with a total score of 1,839, earning personal bests in the 800 meter (2:44.58), long jump (13-2.75), and total points—gaining over 200 points on her previous high score. She is now ranked 1st in Class C4. 💪🌟
Other standout performances included:
• Abby Provo (Senior) – 7th in discus with a PR of 97-1 🥏
• Elissa Sturm (Freshman) – 7th in the 400 hurdles 👟
• Mason Junkermann (Freshman) – 9th in high jump with a PR of 5-4 🏅
The team competes again on Tuesday, May 13th against Perry and Keshequa at Perry Elementary School Athletic Complex. Let’s go Blue Devils! 💙💛


🎉 Blue Devils Modified Softball Takes the Win! 🥎💙
The Blue Devils Modified Softball Team pulled off an exciting 12 - 11 victory over Warsaw last night at Bellamy Park! 🙌
“Lillian Mallaber started the charge in the first inning with an infield hit that sent our first two runners across home plate. Alexis Straub continued the push, pitching seven straight innings and driving in two RBIs in the second with a shot to center field, and another in the fifth with a hit down the third base line. Sydney O’Grady earned her first RBI of the season in the third with a solid grounder to second,” said Coach Becker. 💪

The girls are back on the field Wednesday, May 14th, as they travel to Wayland to take on the WayCo Eagles! 🚌🦅 Let’s go, Blue Devils! 🔥

Our Track Team had a great Friday night at the Ferd Stenta Invitational in Haverling! Despite the weather, our athletes delivered strong performances and earned several top finishes. 👏

🥇 Yasael Malave (pictured) won the 800 meter with a season-best time of 2:06.02, now ranked 2nd in Class C4!
🥈 The 4x400 meter relay team — Malave, Matthew Bacon, Donald Husting, and Yariel Diaz — placed 2nd with a time of 3:50.04.
🎖️ Matthew Bacon placed 3rd in high jump (5-6) and 6th in long jump (17-10.5).
On the girls side...
🥉 Abigail Provo placed 3rd in discus with a throw of 92-6, ranking her 4th in Class C4!
🌟 Peyton Tidd set a new personal best in long jump with a leap of 14-10, earning 6th place.

The athletes are looking to carry this momentum into Friday when they compete in Bath for the Ferd Stenta Invitational,” said Coach James. 👏

The Social Justice Club and Environmental Club are teaming up to run a Pop Tab Drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House! ♻️❤️
🗓️ The drive runs now through Thursday, May 30th and it's a grade-level competition!
🥫 Any aluminum tab can be returned — not just soda tabs!
🏆 The elementary grade that collects the most will win a movie in the auditorium, and the high school grade that collects the most will win ice cream!

Mount Morris Track Shines at Attica Invitational 🏃♂️🏃♀️
The Mount Morris boys and girls track teams had an impressive showing at the Attica Invitational on Friday night. ⭐ Eighteen athletes achieved new lifetime personal records (PRs), contributing to a total of 23 PRs across the team. 💪 The hard work and dedication put in at practice is clearly paying off in competition!
Highlights from the night include:
• Matthew Bacon placed 2nd 🥈 in the pentathlon with a personal best of 2,455 points, moving him into second place in the school record books. 📚
• Yasael Malave placed 4th in the 800 meter 🏅 with a time of 2:08.47.
The Blue Devils 💙 will return to action on Tuesday (4/29) for Senior Night, hosting York at home beginning at 4:30 PM. 📣
